The amount of confidence we have has a major impact on how we cope with life’s challenges in a positive way and the fundamental belief in ourselves that we are worthy of being happy and having all that we desire and want. Being confident means different things to different people and it may be one reason why it is difficult to pin down an exact definition.
We learn confidence as we experience life and it can be a bit like a roller coaster with its ups and downs. It doesn't take much to knock our confidence off balance, turn everything on its head and stop us dead in our tracks. Life changing events such as health issues, retirement, redundancy, examinations or relationship issues can give rise to a drop in confidence. To some people a lack of confidence is a way of life and stems from being told that they're not good enough or that they can’t do this or that. Eventually if you're told something often enough you believe it. These “limiting beliefs” are just that – they limit what you think you can do or achieve.
So if you want to:
Get rid of limiting beliefs and start believing in yourself
Stop worrying about what others think or say about you
Look at yourself more positively
Be prepared to take steps that won’t make you fall flat on your face
Take responsibility and action for lifting both your confidence and spirits
